Glockenspeil Music

Post by Grape_Grower »

Does anyone know how to download this really moving piece of music that is used on loads of things, especially film trailers, there's no lyrics or anything, just what sounds like a glockenspeil?

Hope somebody knows what I'm on about!

Imogen Heap - Headlock (has lyrics tho)
Björk - Frosti
Aphex Twin - Jynweythek Ylow (more plucky)
Boards Of Canada - Turquoise Hexagon Sun (more vibraphone)

'you're so cool' by Hans Zimmer - possibly, was used in True Romance.

This is a bit of a longshot but the track you are looking for may be

"The Musical Pocketwatch" from the film A Few Dollars More. It is by Ennio Morricone.

I don't know whether this is the track you are after but it has been used in a lot of adverts recently.

Anything from the American Beauty soundtrack is frequently used on TV. Kinda new-worldly and minimalistic. It was recently used on a shampoo advert -- L'Oreal, I think it was.

It's not glockenspiel, though, but a xylophone.

I reckon it might be Carl Orff's Gassenhauer from his Musik fur Kinder. It crops up lot in adverts and referenced elsewhere on this site. It also features in the film Badlands, directed by Terrence Mallick and starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek.

hey peeps...

i think you're talking about a cleverly edited version of 'Saeglopur' by Sigur Ros from the 2005 album 'Takk...' the track opens with a piano/glockenspiel intro and then builds to introduce a heavy drumline and distorted guitar (mainly because the singer plays it with a cello bow).

it's the same band/album as the track 'Hoppipolla' came from for the BBC's Planet Earth series earlier in the year.
