Dan Cruickshank Modernist TV Series

Post by Paul W »

Can anyone help with the piece of music used at the end of the new Dan Cruickshank modernist TV show (BBC2) shown this evening (9.5.06) ? This has also been used on Top Gear in the past but I just can't find anyone discussing it ?

Thanks

I have been trying to track that one down for ages too - the choral/ angelic one right? I think it was used last year for a children in need film with jonathan ross on the bbc - I though it might be Sigur ros but ive had a look on itunes with no luck...

Signur Ros, thats who i thought it was as well. Though if you mean the BBC 2 advert for Children in Need, where Woss is sitting in a chair with a book. That was the theme tune for 'Edward Scissorhands.'

I think it's Moby. Will keep looking though.

If people are wondering about about some of the other tunes used on the programme last night. When he was in France the track used is on the 'Amelie' soundtrack. When he was in Russia, the track used is on 'Good bye Lenin' soundtrack. Both soundtracks are by Yann Tiersen.

Cheers for the advice, people (incidentally if it is Sigur Ros, its not on either Takk or Von, but these are the only 2 albums I have by them - any Sigur ROs fans able to help ?!) I'll check out the film tunes recommended though. Thanks.

Also Dan Cruikshank's marvels of the modern age was very intetresting for me, I thought I recognised some of the music.

The Tracks

Foil

Silverside &

Yulquen

From Autechre's album Amber were on there too, after hearing the music on a VHS a second time I obtained The Autechre album ( Amber )

There is also an Ulrich Schnauss song on there, I can't put my finger on it but it comes from the ( A Strangely Isolated Place ) album.

:)

Also on Dan Cruikshanks marvels of the modern age is the tracks.

Autechre : Kalpol Introl from the album Incunabula.

And a lil something special that I know because it was on the compilation Chilled Euphoria, Mixed by Red Jerry ( 2000 )

Matt Darey Pres DSP, From russia with love [ Alaska Remix ]

If I remember correctly this was on the end of an episode, because I watch some VCR recordings last night of the program, 3 1/2 hours of it.

Paul W, like The Grrr Bunny mentioned, the Autechre track featured on Top Gear is 'Foil' from the Amber album during the Koenigsegg CCX feature - check this link and see if it's the track you mean (kicks in around the 2 min mark on the clip)

The track is on iTunes, but if you're after the whole album it's a full squid cheaper via the Warp Records download site at http://www.bleep.com
