I recently saw a TV ad for a newspaper (forget which one) promoting a cd give away. It showed black and white footage of a bearded man playing a guitar. He was singing a really haunting song. The ad was accompanied by the phrase, " when he opened his mouth, his soul flew out". Can someone please tell me the name of the artist or the song.

this sounds like the last song (i think) by johnny cash, cant think of the name right now

I think the last single by Johnny Cash was a cover of Nine Inch Nails track Hurt. Very haunting, I think this may be what you're after. :?:
